You know, when futbol is such a big part of your life, standard things, like the year beginning on January 1st and ending on December 31st kind of get overwritten. The actual year 2015 started on a chill note for us, we spent New Years Eve with family and friends. The night was spent eating a potluck dinner, playing foosball, watching a blind dog jump into a pool multiple times, and inaugurating our friends’ new home until 4am. The excitement of having a fresh start, new dreams, goals, and plans, stirred some interesting conversations. However, sitting there and listening to everyone talk about there plans for this new year made me realize that although I wanted to make plans, commit to trips and events, I just don’t know what this year will bring for us. It might be crazy like last year or it might be calm, the futbol world is so unpredictable, and luckily I find that exciting. Anyway, for me the year starts when pre-season begins and ends when the regular season is over, the playoffs is like the holidays, they almost don’t count as part of the year because they pass by in a flash.
So as preseason started for Justin this saturday, I officially felt like I could get 2015 started. I decided that instead of setting some New Years resolutions that could be interrupted by random unpredictable events, I am going to make a list of things that I could see myself doing more often this year or things that I’d like to try/start.
Stretch More – as an ex gymnast the loss of flexibility is nerve wracking, so this must be addressed. I find this activity boring and a hassle, but in the long run it has its benefits so I’d like to develop the patience to stretch more often.
Cook More – last year I cooked a bit more than usual and I developed a taste for it. I want to continue learning and getting better, enough so that I can actually invite people over for meals more often.
Blog about random things – last year I blogged about too many topics. I was trying to communicate what I was doing in so many fronts, that sometimes I was discouraged to write. To push my brain and creativity a bit further, this year, I’d like to write based on prompts. Any suggestions on topics, questions, things you’d like to hear about would be fun!! Much more fun than me going on line to find topics.
Make our home homey – I love our place and the way we’ve set it up so far, but there are still some projects left open, especially on the decorating front. Gotta put some stuff on the walls, add some decorative items here and there, and above all do something with the spare den/room.
Playing with my Camera – during my trip home I took the time to randomly take pictures and play with my camera. I’d like to share those random photos more often and maybe see what feelings, thoughts, and memories they spark in people.
So that’s my plan for this year! What is yours? And would you like to join me in any of mine?
Cheers!
