People were nice and helpful. The language was no where near as bad as they make it sound in the movies, it was actually kind of beautiful in its own way. Above all I've never met more a people who have owned up to their history the way they do. Germans today do not shy away from their past, they embrace it and work hard to move forward. They don't hide their mistakes and history from children. Every child is required to go to at least one concentration camp during their primary education. They're taken to the museums that show the harsh story of their country. Berlin, is the perfect example of Germany moving forward, after all it's been only 25 years since the fall of the wall and the start of a new city. Yet, in only 25 years they've become a very open minded and forward looking place. Not only have they taken giant leaps in the reconstruction of the city, but also they've opened their doors to thousands of immigrants and become an extremely multicultural place. I think it's about time media stops shedding the wrong kind of light on Germany, if they can move forward so can we.
