Pictures - Hamburg, Germany

Fun Fact: Hamburg's Mayor purchased the property in the Warehouse district, foreseeing it'd become a popular and well known area. Secretly he sold it to investors with the condition that this area should be developed in a modern style to symbolize Hamburg's presence in the 21st century. One of the biggest invenstments in the area is the Opera house, which has been in construction for over 5 years. It has been delayed for so long that the city let the people vote on whether they wanted the construction to go on. Not only did the people vote yes, but during they process they were also allowed to donate for the cause. The donations were the second largest amount ever donated to promote the construction of a landmark. In first place is the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona. Ironically, the building company for the opera is Spanish.
